DIY: Tie-Dye Vans

I’ve had a pair of boring white shoes and I thought it would be fun to tie dye them and spice things up. This is a project that is easy and fun. Let’s begin!

1. White shoes, either canvas or cotton (I bought mine at Target).

2. ‘One-Step Tie-Dye Neon Kit.’ (I bought mine at Michael’s.)

3. Spray bottle. (If you don’t have a spray bottle, a damp towel will work.)

4. One plastic bag and one garbage bag.

Place your garbage bag down on the surface where you are going to work, then place your shoes and materials on top of the tablecloth. Remove the laces from the shoes.

Add water to your spray bottle and dyes, then shake the dye until the water and dye have completely mixed.

Now, spray the outside of the shoes with the water (or, if you’re using a damp towel, use it to get the shoe surface wet).

Squeeze the dye onto your shoes. I divided my shoe into three parts and started at the front of the shoe.

Wrap your Vans in a plastic bag. I recommend leaving the shoes in for four or five hours so the dye can completely set.

After waiting for the dye to set, take your shoes out of the bag and wash them in a sink until all the excess dye runs out. Then its time to dry! You can either put the shoes in the dryer or let them air dry.

Overall, I am very happy of the look of my Tie Dye Vans! I have gotten tons of compliments on them and they look amazing!
