The Significance Of Unimportance : P.A.I.N.T.I.N.G. : Introductories

This series I like to call “P.A.I.N.T.I.N.G.” within my already artsy column –– “The Significance of Unimportance,” –– will be centered around taking old paintings and using my own visual art skills to paint over these works of art to make them something new; something no one may have thought of, giving the original piece a new feel and mood. I want to make something that is already whole into something different, because I believe that there is power in disparity.

The title of this mini-series, “P.A.I.N.T.I.N.G.,” represents exactly what I will be doing –– or trying to do –– in this little patch of something. “P.A.I.N.T.I.N.G.” is literally just the same word split up into solitary letters, so that it looks like something different and has a distinct aesthetic, adding to the literal changing of a painting. Clever, is it not?

If you’re wondering what “P.A.I.N.T.I.N.G.” stands for (because of course you are), I did make it into an acronym. Just for you. “Partly Associated In Not Thinking Ignorance Never Grows” is the full, unadulterated name of this series.

Warning: it will be social justice-y.

Love forever,

Ella Luna. x
