The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern was another library pick up. After seeing many recommendations for it in my local bookstores, when I saw it while at the library, I knew that it was time. And now that I’ve finished, I desperately need to own a copy for myself. Continue reading
So I renewed my library card, and I paid my $12 fine. I also checked out a couple of books from the library. One of them, Choke by Chuck Palahniuk. Chuck Palahniuk although most known for his novel Fight Club, I didn’t find that book in my library, instead I found this one. I guess what drew me towards this book was remembering that my sophomore English teacher had book recommendations every Tuesday and recommended this one. Or maybe I don’t even remember what book she exactly recommended and I read the back cover and thought “yeah, I could get into this.”
Looking through my column, I noticed that all of the books I’ve talked about so far are ones that I had recently read and then wrote about. And I’ll keep it like that, but I want to try something different; think of it as a new segment. I’ll post about a bunch of books I have read with a short summary about each one. Hopefully, because these are books I’ve already read, it will make this column of mine more consistent, and you won’t have to wait around for me to finish a brand new book. Continue reading
For my last book review I will be reviewing the comic book Y: The Last Man. This is not my first comic or my first experience with the amazing Brian K. Vaughan. My friend Anthony (I call him Vigna) was nice enough to let me borrow comics from him. It started with The Runaways another work by Brian K. Vaughan. I later heard of Y: The Last Man towards the end of November and had to read it for myself. The series is only 10 volumes so it’s an easy read. I’ve just been a little slow especially because this exact week is finals week (cries). Continue reading
So this is a book I have tucked up my sleeve. My friend Daniel recommended me this book that I think he said was his childhood favorite, but I never read this book until last year. I definitely recommend this for younger readers (because this book has cool pictures), though I don’t really know. I might just like this book because a really good friend recommended it to me. First introductions always kind of suck for me, and this blog post is no exception. I want to make a good first impression, but if I try too hard I might end up telling you my whole life story. (No thanks!) Hi, I’m Nathalie and in this column I’ll write book recommendations. I have decided my goal for this school year is to read at least eight books. For some, this may sound challenging, but don’t worry, you won’t be waiting for me to finish my reading. I have books I’ve already read tucked in the back of my sleeve.
