Monovlogs: ‘Awkward’ Rant Video

Hi friends, welcome back to Monovlogs! Guess what I’ve made? I’ve made a rant video! I’ve been wanting to make one of these since, basically, the start of my existence after idolizing so many amazing youtubers and vloggers that shaped who I am today. As cliché as that sounded, it is completely true. My sense of humor and the morals that I have today are influenced by the things that I have loved as a child. Every movie, youtuber, actor, story, and so on have affected who I am as a human being. Take that into consideration before you have your little sister memorize “Baby Got Back” by Sir Mix-a-Lot at an influential age or else they’ll probably end up like me. I have grown up watching these witty youtubers (ShaneDawsonTv, Bubbiosity, CommunityChannel, Danisnotonfire, Smosh etc) and they’ve always looked so simple to make. Simple edits, a few cuts here and there, and a whole bunch of improv, right? No, that is not the case at all. This simple video has taken me a good month to create, taking a few days to write maybe a ten minute script.

Monovlogs: Hick Movie Review

hick1

Today, Monovlogs will be talking about an infamous movie: Hick. Starring Chloe Grace Moretz and Eddie Redmayne (two of my most beloved actors) and directed by Derick Martini, Hick received one star on Rotten Tomatoes. Hick is a term used to describe a hillbilly, or a southerner. The plot is about a young girl, Luli, who decides to run away to Vegas. However, things come up and she experiences occurrences a little closer to reality than what she had imagined. Continue reading

Monovlogs: Funny Face Off

23

Hey guys! So, I’ve been wanting to do this challenge for a while, and now I finally get to! it’s called the Funny Face Off; first introduced on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Basically, the challenge is to imitate the facial expressions of people, animals, or cartoons. It’s surprisingly difficult to find unorthodox expressons on the internet that you I am inspired to imitate. When taking the imitation photos, I experienced new pains on my face that no human being should ever experience. Did you know that your cheeks can cramp up? Because I sure didn’t. This is a true art form, to say the least. Making an ugly face is one thing, but trying to imitate one is actually pretty difficult. I tried to find some recognizable faces so this post would be a bit more enjoyable. Continue reading

Monovlogs: Monologues!!

cover photo monologues Hey friends!! Here is my first official post on the wave. Okay, if you count the intro (which I do not) this would be my second official post. That’s besides the point. Alright, lets talk about this video. Basically, what I have created is a kind of a mashup of monologues from popular movies/playwrights that you may have heard of: THE FAULT IN OUR STARS, MEAN GIRLS, Shakespeare’s RICHARD III, VMA CONFRONTATION by the idolized, intelligent Kanye West Continue reading

Monovlogs: Basically

monovlogs header
Yooo hi guys! Welcome to my column, Monovlogs!  I should probably start by introducing myself. I’m Jaimie and I’m incredibly excited to be a part of The Wave. I’m what you would call a theatre geek, one of those kids who has taken drama classes throughout elementary, middle, and high school. My column will be largely performance-based. It will consist of vlogs, skits, monologues, and entries that document my participation and progression in the theatre. If you want a vague understanding of the style I’m going for, check out some of my inspirational YouTubers: Community Channel, Dan Howell, and Shane Dawson.
