Here’s the Dish: Boogaloos

Brunch, brunch, brunch. That’s my second priority of the summer—with the first being attending Sunset Media Wave, of course. However, summer is nearing its end and I have barely gone out for brunch. Madness. As I’m making plans for a brunch outing at this very moment, I’m going to enlighten you guys on my latest escapade.

Long Story Short: Choke

So I renewed my library card, and I paid my $12 fine. I also checked out a couple of books from the library. One of them, Choke by Chuck Palahniuk. Chuck Palahniuk although most known for his novel Fight Club, I didn’t find that book in my library, instead I found this one. I guess what drew me towards this book was remembering that my sophomore English teacher had book recommendations every Tuesday and recommended this one. Or maybe I don’t even remember what book she exactly recommended and I read the back cover and thought “yeah, I could get into this.”

This is a story revolving around a juvenile delinquent, a ward of the state, and a model son.

Long Story Short: New Segment

Looking through my column, I noticed that all of the books I’ve talked about so far are ones that I had recently read and then wrote about. And I’ll keep it like that, but I want to try something different; think of it as a new segment. I’ll post about a bunch of books I have read with a short summary about each one. Hopefully, because these are books I’ve already read, it will make this column of mine more consistent, and you won’t have to wait around for me to finish a brand new book.

Ganderings Into Fictitious Thrillers (G.I.F.T.): My Salutations

I am not the average reader, who flips through the monotonous motions of reading a novel page by page. I am one who has habituated herself to reading novels, as one would read an arabic book. Regardless of the spoilers clouding my head, I am determined to re-read books (after skimpily skimming through them) while jumping to conclusions, piecing together the protagonists’ future with their past and present actions. I am not crazy.
